Celebrate World Oceans Month with 60 Seconds for the Sea
This is your invitation to give us a glimpse through your lens by sharing what brings you hope for a healthy and abundant ocean.
From April 16th until May 16th, we invite you to submit a short reel that shows us the place you are connected to, the actions you or others take to protect it, and why the ocean is special to you. We encourage you to be creative with your storytelling. Whether it’s artsy and poetic or more journalistic, the important part is that the video is authentic to you.

From the icy depths of the poles to vibrant tropical reefs, the ocean covers 70 per cent of our planet and provides half the air we breathe. Without the ocean, the planet could not support life. While it’s important to understand the threats facing our oceans, from climate change to overfishing and plastic pollution, it can get overwhelming. Sometimes, it can feel hopeless.
Giving in to apathy only takes away our power to act. At SeaLegacy, we choose to embrace what our co-founder Mitty calls “evidence-based hope.” We believe that by focusing on actions that protect and restore the ocean, we can overcome that sense of hopelessness.
This is where you come in.
We are looking for videos that:
• Tell a clear and compelling story within 60 seconds
• Show a genuine connection to a place and/or community
• Highlight meaningful action impacting the ocean
• Use creative visuals, voice, or structure to bring their story to life
• Leave audiences with a better understanding of why ocean conservation matters
The three entries that move us most will receive SeaLegacy gear and collectables. Winners and honourable mentions will also be featured and tagged in our World Oceans Month reel, releasing this June.
Details on how to enter are in the submission form below.
We can’t wait to see your videos!
With gratitude,
The SeaLegacy Team
